From the official Marvel s Spider-Man 2 reveal trailer released at the PlayStation Showcase in 2021, we can see that Venom will be the main villain in Marvel s Spider-Man 2. If you ve played Insomniac s first Marvel s Spider-Man, you may recall the post-credit scene of Norman Osborn visiting his son, Harry Osborn. Harry is floating in a tank while being treated by a black substance, the Venom symbiote, due to Harry s Oshtoran Syndrome. There was a similar post-credit scene in Marvel s Spider-Man: Miles Morales in which Harry wakes up to find the substance attached to himself.
Venom will certainly be an interesting antagonist for Spider-Man s second outing given that all evidence points to Harry Osborn, his childhood friend being the man behind the gloopy mask. Traditionally, Venom has been portrayed by Eddie Brock, a reporter for The Daily Bugle and Peter s archenemy. But that doesn t seem to be the path Insomniac are heading down.
Rumored Marvel s Spider-Man 2 villains
The reveal trailer also points towardsKraven the Hunter possibly featuring as a Marvel s Spider-Man 2 villain, as sharp-earned fans recognized the voice and some of the henchmen that Peter and Miles fight in the trailer fit Kraven s style and aesthetic. While the voice hasn t been confirmed as Kraven, it doesn t sound the same as Venom s actor Tony Todd, which has led fans to believe it is the Hunter himself.
Other possible Marvel s Spider-Man 2 villains include Wraith and Lizard as minor villains. Wraith, known as Yuri Watanabe prior to her transformation in The City That Never Sleeps DLC for Marvel s Spider-Man, is now a ruthless vigilante. While she isn t strictly a villain, she could serve as a minor antagonist given her disagreements with Peter over how to deal with the villains long-term. Lizard on the other hand, also known as Curt Connors, could feature as a supporting villain given his relation to Harry Obsorn. In the Marvel s Spider-Man: Miles Morales post-credit scene, we see that Connors is enlisted by Norman Osborn to research Harry s illness, and ultimately seems to release Harry from the tank at the orders of Norman.
The game also primed Kingpin for a comeback which wouldn t be too surprising as he is a core villain of the series.
