In addition to bringing back certain fan favorites, the whole cast of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features some new characters that haven’t yet appeared in Insomniac’s adaptation of the venerable web-slinger’s journey. There are many characters to encounter, including Spider-Man’s Peter Parker as well as the return of the iconic villain Venom in the PlayStation-exclusive series.
As the release date of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 draws near, we’re hoping that the game will make it onto our list of the top titles, particularly for fans of Marvel’s most recognizable character. Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
The protagonist of the Marvel’s Spider-Man series is Peter Parker, the original wall-crawler that fans have been familiar with since the early 1960s. In Insomniac’s Spider-Man, Peter Parker has been the protagonist for more than eight years. After getting bitten by a radioactive spider, Miles Morales becomes his adversary.
In a recent gameplay trailer for the next game, Peter Parker may be seen donning his recognizable “black suit” or symbiote outfit. He is revealed to possess some intriguing abilities and a more irate attitude as a result of the symbiote.
Spider-Man (Miles Morales)
Miles Morales, a teenager who began volunteering at the F.E.A.S.T shelter after his father perished in a terrorist attack in the first game, meets Peter Parker and his aunt there. He ultimately becomes bitten by a radioactive spider from a covert Oscorp laboratory, just like Peter did when he first developed his abilities.
Miles served as the lead character in a spin-off game called Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales between the first and second games, filling in for Peter Parker while he was abroad on business. Miles discovers throughout the events of the spin-off that, unlike Peter Parker, he has a special camouflage ability and can employ bioelectricity skills.
Venom
Even though Venom is a well-known antagonist in the Spider-Man canon, not much is known about the version of the character we will meet in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Based on what happened in the first game, it’s likely that Harry Osborn, a friend of Peter’s, will transform into Venom. This is because Harry’s father used a black substance around Harry to treat his fatal sickness, which is likely the symbiote that will become Venom.
Kraven
A Russian big-game hunter who is constantly on the lookout for his next big kill, Kraven appears to be making his way to New York to apprehend and kill both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as well as the many villains that Spider-Man is generally hunting.
He was introduced as an adversary in a recent gameplay reveal teaser for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, although he hasn’t yet made an appearance in the Insomniac Games version of the web-crawler.
Ganke Lee
Ganke Lee, Miles Morales’ best buddy and a returning side character in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, stays by his side throughout the events of the spin-off game, supporting Miles by inventing new tools and his new Spider-Man outfit.
Ganke Lee appears to be assisting Miles and Peter in stopping Kraven in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, employing a drone to keep an eye on them so he can stay safe. He is also aware that Peter Parker is the first Spider-Man, suggesting that Peter has faith in him to keep his identity a secret.
Speculated Spider-Man 2 cast members from Marvel
Despite not having been confirmed, there are a few characters whose significance in Marvel’s Spider-Man and the spin-off leads us to suspect they will feature in the sequel.
First of all, Mary-Jane will probably reappear. She is Peter Parker’s love interest, and while their relationship was sporadic during the events leading up to the first game, they eventually worked things out and started dating again.
Once the events of the spin-off game were over, Miles’ mother Rio Morales, who is now a member of the New York City Council, and Aaron Davis, Miles’ uncle and former villain Prowler, are expected to appear.
Additionally, we expect a few antagonists from prior games to return. The first game features a significant role for Norman Osborn, who appears as Green Goblin in comic books and other media. It has been shown that Oscorp, his company, is full of secrets and falsehoods. Electro and Vulture, two other Sinister Six members, are likely to be mentioned if not used as standalone antagonists.
Finally, Yuri Watanabe might make a comeback. She is a former New York Police Department officer and a close friend of Spider-Man. She goes rogue and turns as a vigilante after events in one of the original game’s DLC chapters, perhaps resulting in her becoming her comic counterpart Wraith, as she hunts down criminals who exploit the legal system.
